Enjoying a change in camera gear

16th May 2014
I recently decided to move away from my trusty Canon gear in favour of the new Fujifilm X-T1 mirror-less system and so far I have not regretted it one bit.

I love the retro design and the feeling it gives me that once again of actually using a camera as well as creating images. The reduction in weight alone has got to be good for my back :)
The X-Mount lenses, although a little limited at he moment, are nothing short of astounding, with some exciting additions on the Fuji roadmap. Currently I have the 14mm f2.8, which is seeing most of the landscape action, (so far only at Woodbridge) and the 35mm f1.4 that I haven't used yet. My next 'must have' lens will be the remarkable 56mm f1.2, which will no doubt get used for some portraiture.

So far I have discovered that the native jpegs that the camera creates are incredible, which is no bad thing as Adobe haven't quite got the Raw conversion on Lightroom right for the X-Trans files from the little camera. Both Capture One and Photoninja work wonders with the RAW files, but are a little fiddly compared to LR so hopefully that will be sorted out soon?

Be sure to look out for any new work, which will all be from the X-T1, and judge for yourself if you think I made a good move/
